Whether you are looking to renovate your home or work on a larger-scale project, you can find the perfect choice from our extensive list of construction companies in Singapore.

Construction companies provide services, expertise, equipment, and manpower, etc. for constructing a building or infrastructure. There are several types of construction jobs that require only certified construction companies to handle depending on the scale of the project, and what the property that is being constructed on top of the land is for. Construction companies execute the building or infrastructure work via drawing sheets and  make it come to life by building it for a sum concurred earlier with their customers.

There are predominantly three divisions in construction: buildings, infrastructure and industrial. Building development is further categorized into residential and non-residential such as commercial and institutional buildings. Construction work can vary from a simple home renovation to assembling a skyscraper.

There are various types of projects that construction companies take on and for each type there are contractors that are specialised in those areas.

Types of Construction Contractors

Awning contractors

Mainly, there are 3 types of awnings available: stationary, retractable, and motorised.

  1. Stationary awning – A stationary awning is like a canopy that is installed permanently on the outside or exterior of a house. This type of awning can withstand strong winds but it also tends to collect rain and other unwanted debris.
  2. Retractable awning – This model is more commonly chosen by people as it can be rolled in or folded when not in use. The retractable design is also as studious as the stationary one and gives you the option to open and close whenever you like.
  3. Motorised awning – The motorised version is similar to the retractable one. Instead of manually keeping the awning, the motorised one allows you to do that with a click of a button on the remote control. On top of that, it has sensors to detect the weather condition and activate the awning when it is sunny or keep it when the winds are strong.

The most well-known material used for awnings is canvas since it is strong and affordable. It is also flexible, which makes it incredible for retractable units. Metal is another material you can choose. It is solid and sturdy, but on the other hand, it demands professional installation which might cost more.

Buying an awning in Singapore costs about $1,500 to $3,000 (non-retractable metal awning) depending on the types of coverage and metal you use. A motorized retractable awning for a patio can cost $3,500 to $5,000.

Roofing contractors

A good and ideal roofing contractor must be properly licensed and well and correctly insured. They will be based in Singapore and are able to give specific and proper estimates. Quotes should be on written copies and not given verbally. A good roofing contractor will also stick to the timeline and meet deadlines.

The main types of materials used for roofing are:

  • Solar tiles: Solar tiles can be added easily into existing shingles, and it can generate up to 1 kilowatt of energy per 100 square feet.
  • Asphalt shingles: Asphalt shingles are one of the most common roofing materials used. It falls on the more affordable end and can withstand almost all weather conditions.
  • Metal roofing: Metal roofing comes in vertical panels or shingles resembling slate, tile and shake – and lasts about 60 years. It is lightweight and can be installed over existing roofs. Average costs may range more than asphalt but less than concrete tiles. Corrosion also varies by material.
  • Stone-coated steel: Interlocking panels mimic slate, clay or shingles.
  • Slate: Slate roofing lifespan goes beyond 100 years. It doesn’t burn, is waterproof and is resistant to mold and fungus. However, it can break from sheer force or when it’s stepped on. Also, it can come with a hefty price tag.

Waterproofing contractors

A waterproofing contractor is responsible for identifying water threats that could negatively impact the house, and correct them as fast and economically as possible.

Waterproofing costs will depend on the contractor, materials needed, and services required. The average cost that people in Singapore spend for waterproofing work for one toilet/bathroom is around $2,000.
